A Change for the Better
In 2012 North Shore Academy has been involved in a rapid change and improvement.
In March 2012 Bill Jordon CBE was appointed Executive Principal and immediately changed the atmosphere so that the academy and the students were ready and able to learn and develop. In September 2012 the Academy moved to new sponsors - the Northern Education Trust. In April 2013 we moved into our new state of the art building in Talbot Street and in summer 2013 our students gained the best set of GCSE results ever for the Academy and it two predecessor schools.
A great place to learn
North Shore Academy is a great place to learn with a mature and orderly atmosphere and excellent facilities set in a brilliant building designed to provide positive support to learning. Feedback from the research we did in 2012 and again in 2013 from interviews with pupils, students, parents and staff both in the Academy and in our partner primary schools was very clear. We have listened and taken appropriate action.
Our aim is for all our students to be the best they can be and to succeed in further education and in employment. We have renewed our focus on individual care and support for the learning progress of each one of our students. We listened to what parents, primary school staff and students wanted. Our OFSTED monitoring progress reports are good. 53% of our 2013 leavers left with five or more GCSE grades at A* - C including Mathematics and English. We are amongst the top most improved schools and academies in England. More students and parents selected us as their secondary school in September 2013.This is just the start of our journey.
Creating Successful learning journeys
Every student has a different learning journey. At North Shore Academy we treat every student as an individual and will support and challenge them to do their best. Every student is supported to reach and surpass their learning goals. We work hard with our primary school colleagues to make sure that the journey which students started continues at North Shore Academy and we also work with local colleges to help bridge the gap for our students when they move on towards their careers.
